General FAQ

Q: If I applied for GIP, does it mean that I can certainly go for the programme?
A: No. You are not guaranteed a position after you applied. The number of vacancies depends on several factors including the number of vacancies the universities is willing to offer and the number of placements the school is able to get for students going for the work and study programs. However, 65% of students who applied for the programme get it!

Q: How do I plan my subject matching for the study program?
A: To get approval for a subject match, get the subject description from both overseas university and NTU and put them side by side. Send the subject description file to the respective subject coordinator and he/she will decide if you could match it.

Q: Can I apply for the GIP France if I have do not speak or write French?
A: For the study program, the medium of instruction is French. Students will have to be proficient in the French language and a Pass in the language at ‘A’ Level or Elementary French in NTU is compulsory. However, for the research program, French language proficiency is not required.

Q: If I had gone for a programme previously, can I go for another one?
A: Yes! You can certainly apply for another program, for example GIP China even after you have gone to GIP USA. However, priority would be given to students who have never been on the programme before.

Specific to NBS

Q: If I am currently under a double degree or a double specialization program, can I still go for GIP?
A: Yes, you can still go for GIP. However, you are encouraged to plan your subjects well, and overload when necessary to ensure graduation within three years.

Q: If I had gone for GIP China for my professional attachment (PA), will the school arrange another PA for me in Singapore the following year?
A: No. If you had cleared your PA in China, the school will not help to arrange another PA for you in the following year.

Q: Are there any research programmes for NBS students?
A: No. The research programmes in GIP are not available to NBS students. NBS students can only opt for the study or the work and study programmes.
